Hello Seniors
Please i need some clarification on non canadian degree. please is it that Canada does not officially recognise other countries degree or that it just does not value it as much it value canadian degrees? Am asking becuase i have checked and discovered that it is cheaper for me to study MBA in UK than in canada. Its cheaper, has shorter duration i.e one year as against two years for most canada schools and again GMAT is not compulsory for some notable UK MBA like durham as against canada where GMAT is compulsory for all MBAs.
Also am thinking that it makes sense for me to go to UK this september finish around June next year and then we all can move to canada around August next year. I just applied to CIO this march and i presume the process would be finalised around march next year so i thought i could quickly go to UK and come back. I also planned to complete my ACCA in UK when am there.
Please advise me as follows;
first, what is the prospect for an MBA holder in Canada?
secondly what is the prospect of a UK MBA Holder as against canadian Holder?
Should i just forget about the MBA and instead focus on the ACCA ?
I know this is personal but I really need advise from landed immigrants and those who have ideas about the labour market

I have been in the UK and holding UK degree and also here in canada and what I have observed till now is that first you have to be focus do not be so confused. First decide where you want to settle in future, if you want to settle in canada then I do not suggest you to go and study from UK and then come here. Because this all countries tell that they have world recognised degree but in case of easy acceptance they always prefer local education. I have gone through the same situation as yours an thinks that I could do otherwise If I know that I will come to Canada one day.

In Canada or anywhere in the world only degree is not good enough and all depend on how u present yourself. As I have seen ppl who hold degrees from around the world or sometime even from Canada, also be jobless or they also have to struggle in the same way as a diploma holder or school pass would do. it is always true that if u hold degree that there are more prospect of growth in long term but initially it all depends on how you market your self. So just learn how to burn bridges and you will shine anywhere in the world.

ACCA and MBA is totally different field again confusion buddy, decide that u want to do Management or Accounts which interest you more. ACCA is correspondence course and MBA is mostly in class study. So i think both are totally different field it will be your individual choice.

It is my personal view though,

If you consider to Study and live in any country then go for 80% USA or 20% Canada
If you consider to Study and go back to your home country then you will not have better choice then UK.

Good Luck.

Thanks nilsej for your response. Let me start by correcting the impression that i am " Confused" i am not but only trying to take an informed decision based on what people have experienced so i dont make mistake. I know ACCA and MBA are not same but my background might explain my choice of both. I am a chatered accountant from Nigeria. My country and ACCA have sort of arrangement that allows members to write only final stage of ACCA. Now Canadian CGA and ACCA have mutual recognition policy and hence if i can pass ACCA before i get to canada chances are that i will get a canadian qualification i.e CGA.

MBA on the other hand is for everyone including scientist and engineers. IT shows you have what it takes to be a manager and not a starter thus it enhances your chances irrespective of your first background. Haven said this i must admit that the thought of sitting for GMAT particularly the Geometry part put me off Canadian MBA (Funny right?).

I really do appreciate your response particularly the last paragrah and since i am planning to make canada my next abode i might bas well prepare for a school in canada.

Many thanks for your response and i hope other responses particularly for those who have landed would come.

Right,
Dont you think if it was fully discussed it would not have been repeated or you think when one ask a question he or she does not deserve to get several replies? what makes you think barsindo and oceana whom you mentioned have landed, belong to my NOC or have the monopoly of knowledge.

The forum is for us to learn and its not compulsory you respond so please let me be. We are emigrating from different walks of life and so is our choices and the things that bother us different. If only you took time to read the post well you will discover there are specifi questions i asked here that were not in my former post and i remember asking for the views of landed immigrant not that of everyone.
