Canada Study Permit stuck in security screening for so long

#AOR is Sep 2023 and was a study permit, Requested two gcms notes it says like this

Info Sharing: Complete
Final:
Counterfoil Req: Y
MED: N
VIT34: N
VIT35: N
VIT37: N
It went to background check in March 2024 and it is taking forever to get completed, there is anyone else in the same situation?
Considering to go for Mandamus soon but still thinking on it, can someone who had a similar experience bring me up to speed on this matter? why the security screening takes this long and should I go for Mandamus? And those who went through it what kind of results they got? how long it took?

Maybe say country of citizenship and countries you have lived in because that affects security screening. If you have lived in Iran, China etc. then processing can be years. If applied for a study permit, do you even have LOA?
