Hello All,
Recently, I and my wife came to Canada in a tourist visa. My wife is pregnant now and about to give a birth in next few days. If my child takes birth here in Canada, do we get a Canadian citizenship? Any answer would be much appreciated :) Thanks :)

As said above - no, you don't get citizenship. You aren't even allowed to remain in Canada. You will have to leave as soon as your visit is over.

The newborn child will be a Canadian citizen but this will not entitle you to Canadian citizenship.

I'm not sure how you go about taking your child back home with you if you return to your home country soon after he/she is born. I had some friends several years back who came here on a TWP while the woman was pregnant, the baby was born and they decided that they'd rather return to live in the UK but had to wait around for a number of weeks until they got the birth certificate and then a Canadian passport for the child. I'm not sure if they could have done it another way or not.

Hmm.. I am planning to extend my stay in Canada and will leave after few months he born. Moreover, I have already applied permanent resident under Canadian experience class before 4 months. So, I can return back to Canada after getting my PR.

Sounds like the main reason for your "tourism" visit was to have the child born in Canada/become Canadian...just saying.

Ha ha :) We already know its impossible to gain a citizenship by giving a birth. Just for confirmation, I have posted this thread.

It's pretty sneaky to come to Canada just before your wife gives birth to ensure Canadian citizenship for your baby. Now I totally understand why US boarder officers (very!) often deny entrance to women in third trimester.

I think they should take the child away and keep in a foster family and kick out the fake tourist and ban them for at least 20 years. No one gonna travel with heavy pregnancy unless emergency.
The child hasn't done any wrong doing to be punished.
But the more this happens, the more likely that laws will change in future. Many other Western countries have reacted to this in the past, it may happen here too.
