This thread has been started to clarify the doubts regarding Canada's economy, jobs, etc. after US elections. As it seems there is a huge no. of US citizens immigrating to canada, will there be any shortage of jobs for the upcoming international aspirants. Please those who are in canada can help others by replying whats going on there. As the cic website has also been down... PLEASE HELP

The election was only yesterday so nobody really knows beyond speculation how this may affect Canada other than Trumps threats on NAFTA. True the CIC website has taken a hit last few days but again the press do like to speculate that a vast number of US citizens want to emigrate to Canada yet if those people had even a hint that Hillary was going to lose they would have if serious looked at backup options before yesterdays vote. You also have the celebrity effect in the press where such and such a celeb reportedly says they are moving so when people see that they also look to see whats on offer with Canada immigration even if no serious intent simply because their favorite celeb implied a good idea.

Ultimately anybody thinking of immigration needs to accept what will be will be on jobs which are already hard to come by regardless of the US election and immigration is never going to be an easy ride or even necessarily a better life whatever happens south of the border.

True but as the time passes by the first 6 months may be critical... even the students who are planning for usa for studies may deviate towards canada due to elections thus increasing the competition

Sure - anything is possible.

Ultimately none of us can say what will happen or guess what the impact to international students may be.

I'm in Canada (born here) and being in Canada in no way allows me to predict what is going to happen. There is nothing "going on here" right now. Any answers you get to your questions are going to be pure guesses.
