I agree. IRCC says it is secure and employees have no access to data. I think the possibility of data breach is real, paper applications passing through the office, applicants going there to get their biometrics done.

Given what's happened in HK as of late, you're a bit deluded if you think the HKPF isn't the PAP with a nicer, Heung Gong face. They're all talking about Xiang Gang behind the scenes, sadly.

You didn't, but the assumption that just because your application is in Hong Kong that the Chinese police aren't aware of it and its entire contents - that's what the issue is. Same parent company (VFS) takes in applications in HK, you have to provide an HKPF criminal check as part of the application, etc etc.

I apologize for calling you deluded, it was meant more generally than just you. But ever since that hotel out in Tin Hau was turned into a branch of the Ministry of State Security...
