Can you spend most of the time outside of Canada after applying for citizenship?

Once I meet both the basic residence and physical presence requirements for citizenship, apply for citizenship and then leave Canada, can I still get citizenship if I only come back to Canada to do the test and the oath, provided that I am also able to fulfill the residency obligation (will have been in Canada for two years in any 5-year period)?

Can they deny you citizenship if you live in another country while they process the application, even thought you have met the eligibility requirements?

I would particularly appreciate any experiences with this scenario.

You are allowed to move to another country after you apply for citizenship. The CIC website even has instructions on how to change your address if you move outside of Canada.

Leon is correct, you can move. The only caveat is that you must still be a PR when you become a citizen, so if you accumulate enough days outside Canada to leave the PR residency requirements unfulfilled your application would be denied.
