can we leave canada while applications in process?

Are we allowed to leave canada for vacation or go back to the original country while CEC application is in process?
I'm currently holding an open work permit and the Canada Visa and it's still valid till 2010.

im also on an open work permit...good question. i think u can go on holiday as long as u've completed the required work time amount
