im from the philippines and i applied last may under cec. what i want to know is can we go for a vacation in the philippines? or do we have to wait for the results of our pr? hope you could answer me once again thank you.

You can go for a vacation in the Philippines but in order to return to Canada (before you get your PR) you need a valid TRV.

Temporary resident visa, like a tourist visa. Your work permit is only good for one entry. It does not actually allow you to travel back and forth to and from Canada. You probably have a TRV but sometimes they have a different expiry date than the work permit. I heard about a live-in caregiver a while ago who had left Canada for a vacation. Her work permit was still valid but the TRV had expired and she couldn't get a new one to get back.

So, one should go back to Canada before the expiry of TRV, right?

OK, not yet sent the application, still waiting for the FBI letter and my IELTS, hopefully on the 9th.

Anyways, I'm Visa EXEMPT, can I cross the border as I see fit in the same case?? Never had any problems with it before, just usually daytrips to the states etc.

Cheers
H.

Well, maybe not 100% as you see fit :) but in any case, your CEC application status has no bearing on your ability to come & go from Canada... nor does leaving Canada temporarily or permanently affect your CEC application (other than keeping them up to date on your address...)

TheHal, you can cross the border and come back without problems, just make sure that your Work Permit and TRV (if applicable) are not expired.
