from my friends who are already settled in canada say that, they find a job within a month provided you do your credential evalution in advance before reaching canada and some say that they get number of options to choose from, but those jobs maynot be the one as you get in your native country, for people who r flexible to go with any job profile until they find a right one without wasting much time and money they are lucky and the heaven open the doors!...regards...
can you please elaborate more on credentials evaluation? How to do? Any website or institution?
Any help is appreciated.

Fully agree with Rekha that credential evalution is important, more important is getting the right job in a short span of time. So still waiting for different views to land in a perfect job. Yeah its true in emergency one has to work in a food joint also, but lets not discuss all those points here.

New ideas are the need of the hour. Regards

It is a job that can enable you pay your bills and have food on your table. Most of my friends who arrived already say they are doing call centers jobs, even though the pay is not so much. It can help you o have you meals.

Thank you guys for the replies. I started this thread so we can have new ideas on how to play the game of a new life once we landed as immigrant in Canada. Tradeconsult, thanks for recommending that new website. Rekka, thanks for suggesting credential evaluation.

Our objectives in this thread are the following:

1. To distinguish ideas of prospective immigrants outside Canada and those who landed in Canada in the last three months. So we can compare and contrast those opinions outside Canada and within Canada. That's why those forum members should indicate in their post if their outside or within Canada.

2. To share strategies how to get the job we deserve. If Canada's immigration policy would like to attract the best and the brightest for their workforce, then we deserve to work in a job where we can used the full potential of our knowledge and skills. We share ideas so doctors will not work as caregivers, managers as filing clerks, supervisors as messengers, nurses as ass wipers and etc.

3. To network among forum members. I read an article that 70% of the best jobs you wanted in Canada are not found in job websites but through networks. That's why it is suggested (but not compulsory) to also indicate our profession when we post our reply so we will have an idea the different professions of forum members.

God bless and I wish you all the best,

Noel

It has been 9 months since I arrived in Canada and in 2 weeks I was fortunate enough to find a job in my same field. I am a physical therapist working as a physical therapy assistant while I wait for my licensure exams. Walking around the city, I see alot of survival job openings.

I began my job search online months before I was scheduled to land and although my family landed together, my spouse and I decided that I would be left in Canada and they would go back to the UAE while I arrange everything (job, house, car etc.) As I was alone, I was more flexible to move around without having to worry about daycare for my son. I had the opportunity to choose which job and in which city I wanted to finally settle. I came to Canada with no relatives and no friends to help me along my way but I was equipped with faith and prayers.

Credentialing is key. If you are a professional, I strongly suggest to have your credentials assessed by whichever agency handles your profession.

Hello Guyz,

its about to complete 3 months for me being in canada, i got the job on 2nd day after my arrival, i;m into IT field....its right info that plenty of survival jobs are available if u dont make it in ur own field, u can take it up and move ahead.....give yourself sufficient time, dont presurrize urself with getting the job...some gets the job in few days n for some it takes while...

What i suggest and recommend is try to get in touch with as many people as you can, be socialize, regardless of what ethnic or what part of the world they are coming from...i tell you guyz, being in right association will help you think positive about canada...u will find ppl talking negative, i just tell them, be in the right association and see the difference....

good luck fellows...n keep in touch....

Prsh Patel,

Nice input. I'm glad forum members are beginning to understand what this post is all about. Let us maintain this kind of thread so that we can be positive of our goal to working in Canada.

God bless the new immigrants in Canada!

Oh, this thread is going on a right direction, thanks to all members of this forum. I am into administration/accounts/event Management, so would like to work in this field only still outside canada. Thanks to Mr.Paresh who has given some important thoughts about networking and to take things in a positive way. One more question to Mr.Paresh give some more imputs on resume building and ur experience. People talk of multiple ones, pl. if you can discuss more this subject.
Regards

hello... i am a registered nurse and i also plan to land in toronto before the year ends... for the nurses here in this thread, the College of Nurses of Ontario offers some sort of credentialing evaluation service of our baccalaureate degree... if you have been assessed by the college, whether they found you eligible or not to sit for the CRNE, they can provide your potential employers a copy of your TOR for a fee... so those who are in the final stages of their visa applications, that is, those who are done with their medicals and awaiting PPRs, it is best to start your assessment already to suit you up for migration...

i agree, credentialing is the key to land a job on the same field as our profession... but this takes a few months so it is best we prepare before landing...

i have relatives in toronto and survival jobs are indeed not a problem, as long as one is not choosy... so no worries there... let's focus on our fields and give each other updates as we encounter them...

goodluck!

SATDXB,

Thanks for the suggestion. It's very educational. There seems to be only one message in this thread. Careers Success is a long term process and it cannot be done overnight.

God bless members of this thread,

Noel
