As a visitor you can do just that, visit. You cannot work or establish a life in Canada. In fact, any kind of employment while in Canada as a visitor would be illegal.

However, there is nothing stopping you from applying to jobs while in Canada, however, getting a LMIA approved job can take quite a while and isnt easy.

You can find some additional information here:

to add a 5 year visa does not of course as a visitor mean you can stay for 5 years but can use that visa to visit canada probably a maximum of 6 months at a time assuming CBSA are convinced of your intentions on each entry. Definately no work on a visitor visa and even admitting looking for work on landing to CBSA could cause problems.

I'm note quite sure about this plan.
You could apply for a student permit if you want to study and get a Canadian degrees, and this will be, I think, a better path on the long term to get a job and settle in Canada.

If you are a visitor, even if you have a job offer, it won't give you the right to work. You should get a LMIA first, which is really hard to obtain and once you get it, only then you could apply for a work permit or permanent residency (depends on your personal situation), which would take months.

By the way, what is your EE score ? Depending on your EE score, you might have some chances to get selected.

Good luck !

Good point.

I just assumed it was obvious but maybe it is good to mention. No matter how long your visa is 5 or 10 years, that still doesnt give you more than 6 months per stay, unless you are able to get an extension after 6 months.

And as mentioned above, you still need to convince the border officer every time you enter that you are indeeed a visitor and are not trying to establish a life in Canada.

Well there's a way you can work while as a visitor, apply for a program in a public institution, get a study permit and work maximum of 20 hours a week

Once you have a study permit, you are no longer a visitor though, but a student. The study permit would replace your visitor permit.

you must have a work permit. Without work permit, you won't be hired by anyone.

You could still try under the IEC program (Working Holiday Visas) if your country is eligible and if you are under 30 or 35 years old.
Are you in Canada now ?
Good luck !

I know sometimes we get frustrated, discouraged and depressed because things don't move the way we'd like.
But keep faith and be confident that something worth is ready for you, whether here or there.

When did you apply for PEI PNP ?
