Can we change employer when we are on work permit?

Hi, I am on a work permit for a client based in ontario. I want to change the employer, my question is can I change my employer in Canada when I am on a work permit for different employer? Is it legal? Please help me. And if yes does the new employer file the work permit or we have to file on our own?

if your workpermit is not an open work permit, then you will have to apply for a new work permit when changing the employer.

the new employer will have to get an approved LMO before you can apply for a new work permit.
