can u go to the united states for a week on a canadian visit visa?

I got a three year trv. I am in Canada right now. Staying here for six months. I want to visit California in December. Is that possible on a Canadian trv? Or will I have to apply a visit visa for the US?

No - not possible on a Canadian TRV. You need to apply for a US visitor visa if you want to visit the US.
