a question on work experience: I've been in Canada since 2016 and my PGWP expires November
Last year I was an associate for the MasterCard Foundation part of a program called the Mastercard associate program and they got me a contract with a foreign company. I did this for a year
I was paid in CAD through the foundations Canadian account and worked remote here
that said Mastercard did not sign a contract with me and told me they can't give me a letter of employment as the foundation cannot employ staff for itself using program funds.
I have a certificate showing I graduated through the program
so was wondering does this count or not?
and what should I submit?

I think you are fine to count this work experience but you would count it as foreign work experience since you were working for a foreign company.

I wonder if it can be Canadian as I worked in Canada and the foundation is Canadian.
No. The company (in Mauritus) was paid by Mastercards Canada branch and they sent it to me

Can I call someone to clarify just in case?

The company needs to be Canadian and you need to be able to get an employment letter from a company in Canada.

Who will be issuing your employment letter?

Oh was told this by Mastercard though:

Unfortunately, the Mastercard Foundation will not be able to provide you with such a letter because you did not/do not have direct contractual relationship with the Foundation. You did not work with the foundation as an intern and legally the foundation cannot employ staff for itself using program funds. This would be a breach of the Foundation’s charitable purpose, so it is important that you do not present yourself to employers as someone who worked in the foundation.

but have a certificate

So don’t count experience.

THe issue is that you worked in Canada in a Canadian office with Canadian staff so might not count as foreign work experience.
Oh no I did not
I worked from home but in Canada.

I was an associate for a Mastercard program enrichment scholar program. Through the program I got a job as a research and project management associate for a company based in Mauritius for a year
For payment the foundation paid the company from the canadian branch and they sent it to me.

So then it sounds like you will need to count this as foreign work experience.

I don't know what you mean by a certificate. However IRCC requires you to provide an employment letter. They won't accept a certifcate.

They haven't happened for a while. You can see the history here:

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/mandate/policies-operational-instructions-agreements/ministerial-instructions/express-entry-rounds.html

Consider learning French or taking the French test if you already know the language to qualify for the French language draws. You need to score CLB7 to qualify.
Can you elaborate on the french part?

do you mean the french language test?
