My husband has put me down as his REPERSENTIVE, I was wondering if this was common to do? or if theres any objections of myself being the REPERSENTIV??

As far as I'm aware, all that means is that you can request information on the his application, instead of him having to request it. Officially it gives the nominated person authority to find out information about progress, notes etc.

You don't need to fill out the representative form for your spouse or vice versa. You automatically get all the updates and can call and check on your files as the sponsor. That representative for is more if you want someone besides you both, who can access the file.

Well, that's not completely true. You can only get updates as to processing times about your spouse's file if you are the sponsor. That can be limiting if you want more detailed information like CAIPS notes OR you want them to contact you directly if more information is required from the applicant or an interview is required. Sometimes the couple will feel that it's better for the sponsor to be in control of the application for various reasons. If you do complete the representative form, you might also want to make the mailing address, telephone number and email address on the Application for Permanent Residence the same as the sponsor/representative.
