Can the Passport be renewed during the immigration cycle after ITA?

I have a question, I know I am being too pedantic.

My wife's passport expires next year around July, 2018. I plan to submit my EE profile in the coming months around July end or August 2017. I am just thinking by the time, the process kicks start and I get called to submit passport, her's would have very few months left to expiry. And I suppose having less than 6 months of validity the passports are not stamped for fresh visa.

My question, should I get it renewed now, which seems too early, or wait until I get the ITA. Will it be fine to update the passport details later in the immigration cycle? After getting ITA etc..

Why not get it renewed right now? Most countries let you renew a year in advance. What do you mean "it seems too early"? If your country allows you to renew it, then renew it.

Yes you can get a new passport when you are being asked to submit them for COPR. I got a new passport and sent both for stamping. What do you mean by details? If its about adding her married name or something like that, you can also attach supporting documents.
The most important thing is to get the new passport stamped
