hi Folks,

quick question, my fiancée has got the visitor visa and my question is : can she accompany me for a trip for 3 months to Canada.

I am an Indian, I am planning to get married in India and then have my wife travel with me to Canada on visitor visa so she stays here for 3 months. I still plan to initiate outland visa application.

Pease advise if this is allowed or if the border officers will refuse entry to my wife.

please let me know.

thanks,

Yes, but how are YOU planning on going to Canada? Do you also have a visitor's visa? If you get married before landing in Canada, then your PR visa will be cancelled (if you were already given one) and you will be reissued PR visa along with your wife's. If you get married BEFORE your PR visa is issued, then also it will be held off until your wife's processing is complete.

This is assuming your PR application is still in process and that you aren't already a PR in Canada. If you already are a PR (that is landed and have PR card), then there is no problem with your plan.

Dear namaste,

how about adding a spouse to the application as non-accompanying, getting PR and then apply for the sponsorhip?
It'll take more time for getting the spouse to Canada, but will definately reduce the initial processing time.

I'm not arguing you, but being in a similar situation trying to consider all possible options.

How would you tacle this?

With all respect :)

hi Namaste,

I should have been clearer, I posted this in the wrong category, I am already a PR and will sponsor my spouse.
so I have a PR and I was wondering if my wife can accompany me right after marriage on visitor visa as her Spousal sponsorship will take time.

thanks,

Yes, that's an option BUT not a very good one. Because, a non-accompanying spouse will still have to go through all the background/security and medical checks and will have to submit all the documents required for an accompanying spouse (except application fee). So, the processing will be delayed by about the same amount of time whether the spouse is added as accompanying or non-accompanying. So if I were to be in this situation, I would just list the spouse as accompanying and get the whole process over with in one scoop.

If so then your plan will work. Your spouse can travel to Canada with a visitor's visa while the PR application is in process.

I think that it is the right strategy to be chosen in the above case.
