I'm about to head to NYC to get my PCC. I'd really appreciate it if someone can post a copy of the Indian PCC - you can redact the personal info, of course. If you don't want to post an image, perhaps you could describe the letter and type out the text?

Things I'm interested in knowing

1. Is this printed on plain white paper, embossed paper, or something else?
2. What does the letterhead say? ("Consulate of the Republic of India")?
3. Who signs it? (some sort of consular officer?)
4. Is it stamped with an official GoI stamp?

anything else you can tell me would be helpful.

I want to make sure I get the right letter with the right heading etc. I know this may sound silly, but I have had bad experiences with the consulate in NYC, where they gave me stuff that wasn't correct, and I had to make another trip.

You'd think there'd be a standard format, but if you have any experience with the Indian government (and I'm sure there are other countries like this), you know that things are somewhat ..fluid from day-to-day.

If you want a laugh, take a look at this -> https://corpocrat.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/pcc-sample1.jpg

Anyone else want to travel to Hungury?

I had the same question sometime back, and I asked here giving the same sample pcc. The answer I got was that pcc given overseas doesn't have photo and they place a stamp in passport.

By the by, do we need an appointment to visit embassy? I'm planning to my pcc from NYC embassy too. Did you find any link for applying the pcc?

Interesting, that's good to know.

Here's the info from the website

1. https://www.indiacgny.org/pages.php?id=87

and also read this

2. https://www.indiacgny.org/pages.php?id=77

and this

3. https://www.indiacgny.org/pages.php?id=76

Briefly:

1. Fill out the form
2. Get a money order ($28 for passports issued from NYC, $43 for other passports)
3. Take the original documents, pictures etc. that they ask for and get in line - go early, best to get there around 8 AM, people start lining up. There's no need to make an appointment.

Thanks. Very helpful.

I renewed my passport in India and I don't think I can visit the embassy twice due to long commute. I think I'll have go with mail option. 10 days seem reasonable.

Yeah, mail can be ok, but remember that you'll have to get your documents notarized. Shouldn't be a big deal

Thanks. Any idea on how reliable is it to send and get a passport through mail to Indian embassy? It's bit bothering because they don't seem to have any case management system to track the progress. Except for postal tracking, I won't have anything to know if the passports reached right hands or if it's ready to be picked?

They spelt Hungary as Hungury.

I got my PCC from the Indian High Commission in London and it does not have my photograph. It printed on the High Commission letterhead and states that Mr. X has passport number XXXXXX and there is no record that should prevent him from immigrating to Canada.
