I have applied for a Student VISA on 16 th MAY 2011 at VFS center in Mumbai. Today I got back my passport along with a letter starting that :

"IN ORDER TO FURTHER PROCESS YOUR APPLICATION AN OFFICER HAS DETERMINED THAT AN INTERVIEW IS REQUIRED. PLEASE SCHEDULE AN INTERVIEW BY VISITING VFS APPLICATION CENTER WHERE YOU HAVE ORIGINALLY SUBMITTED YOUR APPLICATION."

Now I am not sure what to do as none of the people who have applied along with me or are in my class have been interviewed . I have been admitted to Rotman Business School , University of Toronto for the class of 2013 . My classes start from July and I need to get the visa as quickly as possible.

I am an Electronics Engineer and competed my degree in 2004 since then I have worked in several software companies and have more than 4 yrs of experience. I have not been working since 2009 that is when I started preparing for GMAT seriously. My GMAT score is 640 and i have got a loan from Credial HDFC of 30 lac . I have shown statement of support from may parents that accounts to another 30lac . Total funds that I have shown is 60lac this amount is more than sufficient as it covers 2yrs of fees and living expenses . I am not sure if funds are a real issue here for an interview call.

Can any one please guide me what should be my next move and why and in this situation?

Looking forward to your valuable suggestion . If any one need more information do let me know .

Help please!!!!!!!

Interview call is normal. Do not panic over that.

For US Visa, everybody has to appear for an interview. For Canada, only a small percentage of applicants are called for an interview.

Just have confidence and appear for the interview. Best of luck!

Thanks for your reply GS_Stud . But can you please tell me what to expect in an interview. I have no idea how to prepare . I guess if I know what to expect I will be confident in my approach.

I have once read a thread in this forum about visa interview and it contains sample questions with answers. What i meant by sample questions are questions which are normally asked during an interview. If there is anyone who knows the thread link please do post it or else rockeyb you have to do a search. Its either in "international students" or "education" section, i forgot.

Dear friend,

Need not to worry. it may be a random selection. I have not attended a Canadian visa interview, but attended US'. Check once again your supporting documents, to ensure that there are no contradictions. All docs to prove your experience (salary certificate/ income tax statements etc..), your education history (including any gaps), funding are necessary. Be confident. Also be ready to explain why you are interested to pursue the intended program.

wish you all the best
