Hi All,
Our family is planning to move to canada in April on PR (I already have stamping). My husband is into export and Import business and will like to continue the same. We are planning to rent an apartment in Toronto. Can we use the same address to register our new company in Toronto or it is objectionable.

Also it will be great if somebody is already working on wholesale of garments and/or shoes or export of pulses as we are in the similar trade.

Any help appreciated.

I do not believe you need to own the property that you are using for business, in order to use it for a registered business address. Unless zoning of the property itself prohibits you from doing so (and that is unlikely) there should be no reason you are not able to register a home based business, at any address where you have legal residence. The fact that it is a rental property makes little difference to your ability to do so.

There is one other area that I would suggest you check. Your rental agreement may have usage restrictions on as well, in which case you may need to arrange for an amendment of your rental agreement to allow you to do so. It is unlikely that you will be restricted from a small home based business in your rental agreement, though I would check if I were you.

Good luck with your business.

A pleasure, happy to help.

Canada is a sweet place to live.

If you want more info I have a ton of business related articles on one of the sites in my signature. Feel free to have a look there.

I have also just completed a complete guide to immigration to Canada, which will be going live within the next few days. Not that much info about business in Canada there but lots of other useful things about immigration and life in Canada.

Let me know if I can be of any other assistance of course.

Cheers!!.
