Can my wife tell the CBSA officer at the airport that we intend to sponsor inland?

My wife is coming from a visa exempt country(Mexico). As soon as she gets here, we are applying for inland + work permit. Will the CBSA officer at the airport deny her entry if we tell them this? Will they say that she intents to stay, and so deny her?

I know that legal visitor status is acceptable to qualify for inland sponsorship.

Anybody have experience with this?

id suggest to keep the answers simple, dont answer more than necessary. especially because she is from mexico, they will likely evaluate her more keenly for her intent of entry.
if you wanna mention, say that she has dual intent, meaning she also has an intent of applying for pr. She will likely need to show bank stments of funds by either you or her to show that she can fully support herself without working. As well as other proofs of relationship if they ask.

Only say this if you are specifically asked this question. The rule with CBSA (border officials in any country, to be honest) is to only answer the questions you are specifically asked and to keep your answers relatively short. It's very possible you will be asked nothing at all.

Make sure she has a return ticket of course.

Also note that you will have to submit the inland sponsorship application first and wait 2-3 months for AOR before you will be able to submit the open work permit.
