Hi guys... new to the forum. Had to join seeing how helpful everyone here is.
I am a canadian citizen, i am currently living outsidr of canada with my wife. She is not a citizen and has just received her pr papers.
My question is: can she land for the first time without me being physically present in the country? Due to obligations abroad i cannot travel with her. Can she go and get her landing done whilst im out of the country?
I have not declared non resident status. Not sure if this is relevant or not.
I found the following paragraph online, not sure if this applies to me as im a citizen.
"If you are outside of Canada, you will land at the airport and present your Confirmation of Permanent Residency to the officer. The principal applicant must land first. If family members are part of the application and were approved for permanent residency, they can land at the same time as the principal applicant or land at a later date, but not before the principal applicant"
