Let me further explain.

I'm a Canadian Permanent Resident and am planning to get married in February next year. I intend to apply for PR for my spouse once we're married. But I'm wondering, if my fiance gets a Canadian Visit Visa BEFORE marriage, can she use it to enter Canada after our marriage while her PR sponsorship application is underway ?

She will leave Canada before 6 months are over, so that she does not violate the terms of her Visit Visa.

Yes she would be allowed, but she needs to have a return ticket with her when entering Canada, as well as demonstrate to the officer when entering Canada that she has strong ties to her home country and is not planning on overstaying her visa.

It's also dependent on where you are from - it's typically easier for visa-exempt people to enter Canada as visitors, whereas people who have to apply for a TRV (temporary resident visa) who are undergoing the PR process have a more difficult time getting it approved.

There are two options that you can utilize to file your wife's spouse sponsorship, if she can secure a TRV first. The best one for you is after your wife is in Canada and you guys got married, you can file in-land spouse application with her open work permit. The whole process is about 12 months, but the open work permit can be approved in about 4 months (it's not guaranteed that the OWP will be approved though). Once you file your wife's in-land application, your wife doesn't need to leave Canada, because she has the implied status (It's the equivalent of Case Pending in US) till the decision made on her application. Also, after your wife's OWP approved, your wife can legally work in Canada as well. If your case requires interview, the interview will be held in Canada. The downside of this option is that if your application should be denied, you don't have the rights to appeal.

The second option is to file out land application, which your wife has to leave Canada, before her Visitor Status runs out. The application process is the same as in land application. If the interview is required, it will be held at your wife's Country of Citizenship/Origin. The out land application does allow you to appeal the application refusal though.

So, it is up to you to decide which route you are going to take, based on your own assessment.

Hello every one,

I am landed immigrant in Canada for almost 9 months. I'd been here since 2016. I applied for Asylum since then and got approved 9 months ago.
I am a single mom with 2 kids one of which never see his father as he was born in the USA at the beginning of 2016. I applied for PR for me, the kids and my husband as well" my husband lives outside Canada in his County of Birth". Is it possible to invite him to come to visit us while his PR application under processing? I heard the processing time for PR is up to 30 months?!! I am tired, depressed and devastated and don't know what to do? The pressure on me is too much as I have no family or close people to rely on. The kids, on the other hand, are tired of waiting and they miss their father so much.
I need your advice on what to do in order to reunite with my husband.

Thank you
