Can my parent stay with me in Canada while I work here with my PGWP?

Hi guys, sorry I'm double posting this. I think this is the right category to post this question.

I am graduating from university this year, and planning to get a job on a Post Graduate Work Permit. I have an illness that I have had since I was little, and I need a lot of emotional support (also confirmed by my doctor). So while i was studying, My doctor and I each wrote a letter explaining this, and CIC let my mother stay here with me to support me. But can she stay with me while I work? Not only do I need emotional support, my mother (due to marrital status) has no one to live with in my home country, and I don't want her to live all by herself there. She really wants to stay here too. I help her with everything there is to help in a home, such as when problems occur like accidents, bank, etc. She can't speak english too well.

Is there any way she can stay here with me while I work, on my PGWP? Currently she is on her visitor record visa. She has been here for more than 10 years on that visa while I study. She has some degree of ties to Canada, such as owned home, car, filed tax for several years, etc. (This last sentence is a new one I added compared to my prev. post on the other section)

Thank you for all your help on this forum.

I've never heard of that before. Is your mother here on a visa for the purpose of helping you? What did you submit with that application?

Yeah, its definitely not common. I don't know if that is the official reason considered by CIC, but i submitted my medical record, letter from doctor, and my own letter with explanation, and all other usual documents, like bank statement, etc.

I assume she has been renewing her visitor visa every six months to a year? I don't see any reason why she can't attempt to apply for an extension to stay longer. Whether that extension is approved or not is obviously up to CIC. I would provide as much medical evidence as possible to prove why you need your mother here. At this point it may be more difficult to prove this since you are an adult - but you can certainly try. The fact she is alone and doesn't wish to return to her home country is not a good reason for extending her visit - if anything, this could increase the chances of refusal.
