Can main applicant apply for PR card for dependents?

Is it possible for main applicant to apply for PR card for dependents while dependents, who are part of the application, but not with main applicant in Canada. Or PR card can be applied only for persons present in Canada with main applicant.

Any clarifications about this would be much appreciated!

The PR card application is automatically submitted as part of the landing process. If the main applicant lands alone, then only an application for his/her PR card will be submitted. The PR card applications for the dependents will be automatically submitted when they land. They cannot be submitted ahead of time.
