Hi all

I have a PR since 2013 also does my wife a kid, but wife and kid were out of canada ever we made landing, now we got two new born babies outside of canada, my question is , suppose i continue to stay in canada till i complete 4 years requirement to get citizenship, can my kids who never set a foot in canada later when i become a citizen get their canadian citizenship through me since they are below 18 years.

If your kid has never step foot in Canada, how can they maintain their PR status. One of the requirement of acquiring Canadian citizenship is maintaining their PR status.

You should have planned to have the two new babies in Canada, then they get the citizenship since u were both residents. Now why would you be in Canada away from 2 newborn kids and family? Suppose u were to stay on for 4 years, and then to apply for citizenship, the question of the intent to reside would be come in and it would be easy for the CO to deem that you don't have an intention to stay in Canada since your family isn't living with you... Canada is not worth such a sacrifice, I would say...

I agree but he coulld bring back all his family to Canada. As a PR it's easy to get the visa for his 2 new babies.

Not quite. Sponsoring a PR for family could take pretty long, unfortunately...

They will get PR eventually. They still have to go through the process like everyone else. They still need to pass medical exam and go through the red tape of acquiring PR. The only advantage the newborn have is that they won't have to submit any police report.
