I invested in equity stocks in secondary market about a year back and still hold them till today. These stocks are traded in a stock exchange. Can I show them as part of Proof of funds valued at market value? Please shed some light. I am really worried.

This link mentions stocks but it is in the context of the types of monetary instruments that border security includes in the calculation of funds you have to declare at the border. I do not interpret this as what CIC accepts as liquid proof of funds. I am not sure what a "secondary market" is?
Stocks cannot guarantee a Specific amount of return until they are Sold so I do not know if they are acceptable. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp

What I would do is, sell all the stocks. Put the money in a savings account and the proof of the money will be the sale of stocks.
The only problem showing stocks is the high unpredicitablity of the nature of this financial instrument.
P.S. don't spend the money and once you get your PR, buy those stocks again.
