I am planning on going to Canada next year as tourist to marry my girlfriend there and then be sponsored, can I get a work permit while I wait for the process to be completed? if allowed, How long would it take to get one in this situation (being inside of Canada)?

If your wife sponsors you using the inland process, you will qualify for an open work permit once your application has first stage approval. First stage approval is currently taking 15 months to complete. So you would be waiting for longer than a year. If your wife sponsors you using the outland process, no open work permit is granted as part of this process.

If you want to work sooner, you would need to find an employer in Canada who is willing to offer you a full time job. That employer must then obtain an approved LMIA. Once you have the full time job offer and approved LMIA, you can then apply for a closed work permit.
