Hi,

Our story :
Me and my girl friend are from India.

I'm in Canada on study permit (which will be completing in May 2023 and will get my PGWP of 3 years)
My girl is in the United States on an H1B visa.
++LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP++

we do have few doubts regarding Immigration:

1. Can we work to canada with work permit staying in USA on h4 visa?
2. If yes, As we pay taxes to Canada but stay in USA will that not be an issue?.
3. Is it possible to keep both our US and Canadian Visa status?
4. After getting PR in canada - what can be the process to stay in USA?

Any suggestions where we can be together ?

Thank you so much in advance for answering the questions.

1. No you can’t work in the US while on PGWP even if you have H4.
2. As already said working in the US is not an option in this scenario
3. You can keep them but you won’t be able to work in the US while on H4. If you get married your spouse can apply for a OWP if you meet the requirements.
4. Getting PR from Canada doesn’t change anything when it comes to being able to live or work in the US. You would apply like any other Indian citizen.

- - - why can't? I meant working remotely for canada company from USA ( like staying some borders) will that effect my US h4 status?

Have you been approved for EAD on this H-4 ? Having a PGWP is irrelevant for working in the US . Two different countries, two different immigration systems .
You need to do more research on both immigration paths for both countries.
If you’re just a visitor, working in the United States for a company is verboten.
If your intent , as it sounds , is too work & live in the United States I’d probably be focusing on that

BTW , you have to be married
