Can I work right now?

Applying for jobs and explaining my visa situation is tricky as I don't fully understand it myself.

My work permit is ending on July 28th, extension applied for but hasn't arrived yet. PR applied for 10 days ago.

I only have paper proof of my work visa for 2 more weeks and a receipt of submitting my PR.

Can I work right now? I think i'm on applied status from submitting PR, but will a HR department accept an expiring work visa and a reciept of submission as proof?

You may work under implied status because you have applied for a work permit extension.

Not sure, but you can probably take your receipt for fees paid for the work permit extension to Service Canada to have a SIN re-issued.
