I am planning to study in Canada. I have heard that I can apply for student off campus work permit only after 6 months of study with minimum average score of 2.5 gpa in studies. Is it correct or not and if I apply under SPP than what I still need to wait for 6 months for off campus workpermit?

Hey Rick,

Yes, for the 1st 6 months you are eligible to search for the on-campus jobs, but there is usually a long waiting list for it. not available on demand. and moreover, its given to students who perform well in their studies. am not aware of the grade eligibility.

so consider enough cash resources to support yourself for the 1st 6 months. after that, you can apply for the workpermit and work for 20 hrs a week off campus.

Every college/university has its own rules.

No, you may take IELTS test and change your status to student while in Canada.

You realize that visitors can't change to students in Canada. If they have a letter of acceptance and proof of funds and don't require a TRV, they can apply at a port of entry, otherwise they have to apply at an overseas office.

Where do I apply?

You must submit your application to the Canadian visa office responsible for your area, for processing. Consult the relevant visa office or its website regarding accepted methods of submitting applications (such as general mail, in person, by courier, etc.).

Note: If you are from the U.S.A., Greenland, or St. Pierre and Miquelon, you can apply at a Canadian port of entry.
