Can I work for my old employer while a new employer applies for an LMIA?

Hi there, my current employer has a valid LMIA and I have a work permit to work for them, however as their kids are getting older I'm looking for a new employer (they are willing to let me find a new job before releasing me). Can a new employer apply for an LMIA for me while I'm working for my previous employer?

A new LMIA or work permit does not invalidate the previous one.

It obviously makes sense to have multiple work permits at the same time.

I have had two valid work permits for a period of almost 3 months, each tied to a different employer.

During that time frame, I resigned, completed notice period at current employer and then a month latter joined the new one.
