Hello All,
-Could you please clarify what are the exact requirements for PR Card and OHIP Card after receiving them?
Question 1) How many days do we have to be in the province after receiving the PR card to become a citizen? Are there any other requirements after receiving the PR Card that we have to obey?
Question 2) Also, after receiving the OHIP Card, what are the requirements to be continuously covered by OHIP?
Details:
The "health.gov.on.ca/" regarding OHIP requirements says:
+To be eligible for ongoing OHIP coverage you must be an eligible resident of Ontario. This means that you must:
be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or hold an OHIP-eligible immigration document; and
be physically present in Ontario for 153 days in any 12-month period; and
be physically present in Ontario for at least 153 days of the first 183 days immediately after establishing residency in the province; and
make your primary place of residence in Ontario.
+Also in another place says:
The requirement to be physically present in Ontario for 153 days in the first 183 days after residence is established in Ontario only applies to new or returning residents:
Who move to Ontario from another country or
Who move to Ontario from another province/territory where they were not covered by the health insurance of that province/territory
My case: I was a student in Ontario and after living in Ontario for 3 years I received my PR card; in other words I have been continuously in Ontario for more than 3 years before receiving my PR card;
Question 3) now my question is can I leave Ontario for more than 30 days for the first 6 months? (or in other words do I have to meet the second requirement of OHIP requirements or I am exempted to meet this requirement since I have been in Ontario before receiving my PR Card?)
I really need your help or opinion!
Many thanks in advance!
