Can I use my Multiple Entry Visitor Visa when I have COPR for job interview?

Hi,

I received my Multiple Entry Visitor's Canadaian Visa in October 2014. I was thinking of visiting Canada for vacation purpose but did not visit.
Then I received my COPR in Jan 2015.

I am in preparation for immigrating to Canada (Toronto). I am looking for jobs in Toronto and some of the staffing agencies called to arrange for interview.
Is it possible that I can use my visitor's visa, appear for the interview and come back to NYC and that too multiple times? Then when I get a confirmation of the job, I can move permanently?

I live in NYC. I know it will be quite a ride everytime I go for an interview in Toronto but I think, it will be worth the pain.

Your help greatly appreciated friends!

Once you are a PR, you are not a visitor anymore. Why would you want to visit Canada as a visitor if you are a permanent resident. The COPR gives you the right to enter the country.

It is mind blowing that you don't want to land asap..... anyway...

When you recieved your CoPR you also recieved an immigrant visa. When the CBSA officer goes through your papers (and through the system) he will find it and proceed with your landing process. At that moment you would have to explain to the CBSA officer if he would let you do the landing on a later date.

Thank you for your responses.

The only reason I wanted to use my Visitor visa was 'I wanted to have a job in hand before I move to Canada'. As posted in the Jobs section of this forum, many have advised that one should have a job in hand before you enter Canada.
Seems like finding a job after landing is a little difficult there.

Landing and moving are two different things. You can land and then on a different date you can move to Canada.

Really? I have heard exactly the opposite. That is the problem of listening to personal experiences.

Thanks for your comments. Obviously I was not aware of Landing and Moving being two separate incidences. This raises more questions in my mind. Can you please shed some light?

1) Since I wasn't aware, I was going to Land/Move in April-May. Are there any advantages to Land today than later?
2) Once I Land, until I receive my PR Card, I will not be able to go out of the country and come back again. Isn't that true?

I understand, with these questions, this thread might not qualify for topic "Visitors". If so, I will move my questions to "Settlement Issues" topic.

you need a SIN number as well to work....although not hard to get once you become a PR but you still need to be a PR.. I would say land and then find a job...

You will be doing the samething no matter you do it today or tommorow. The advantage is that the faster you land, the faster youll get your PR card.

2) Once I Land, until I receive my PR Card, I will not be able to go out of the country and come back again. Isn't that true?
Also not true, if you have a visa to the united states, you can always fly into the nearest border airport, take your car and drive to the border and enter canada using your COPR. If not, you can always get what is called a PRTD ( Travel Document for PR) which will let you get onto a commercial carrier to Canada.

1. Yes, you can use your TRV to visit and attend job interviews. Just tell the CBSA officer (if asked) it is your intention to "land" at a later time. Just ensure that you "land" before your COPR expires.

As a final note I would do as PMM suggested. I forgot to mention that while it is OK to land, the PR Card can only be mailed to a Canadian Mailing address.... so unless you have one it is better to stick with the TRV.

CoPR is kept by the CBSA officer during landing. So that is not an option.

Hi

1. Yes, an original, kept by CBSA when you "land" and the carbon copy is returned to you when you "land"
And the carbon copy doesn't have your picture if I remember correctly.
