Can I use my first and last name only in Canadian passport

I want to use my first and last name only in Canadian passport because I have long middle names. Can I do this. I found this link but I cant post it

They mention yes I can but I need to provide another ID. The problem is all my Ids contains the middle names which is truncated due to insufficient space.
So can I use my first and last name only or I should select between full or truncated name only

I tried to do so for my son a couple weeks back but the Passport Canada employee said that as of the past couple months, middle names that are present on the birth certificate HAVE to appear on the passport UNLESS you have a previously issued passport with the first name / last name pair only.
