can i study in a college on pgwp

hi,
The job I am applying for requires an 8-month certificate including 1 month of practicum-based study.
my question:
is it okay if I study on my PGWP, since I heard if the course is less than 6 months then I don't need a study permit. but since it's an 8-month course if I apply for a study permit, will my pgwp be dismissed?

You need a study permit if you want to take an 8 month program.
