Can I still work on my current work permit while applying for a new one?

Hi there,

So I am a British (UK) citizen, working in Quebec on a 3 year LMAI based work permit that is souly tied to my employer. I've almost been here and working for 2 years in Canada, and I really want to move to British Columbia and work there!

Now since I'm on a work permit, I know I need a new one. I have a job offer from a new employer in BC, but they haven't got me an LMAI )yet). Once they do, can I just leave Canada and re-enter in BC and pick up a work permit at the border with the LMIA, or do I need to apply for a new work visa. And If I do, can I still work on my current ongoing one while that one is being processed?

Basically I want to keep working at my current job until all that's processed, hand in my notice, move to BC and start my new job with my new permit there.

Possibilities?

Thanks

Yes of course, you can definitively apply to change your work permit in Canada, and work for your current employer in the meantime. Appying for a new work permit won't invalidate your current one ;-)
