Can I still go to the border if my work permit already expired?

Hi i need help.

My work permit will expire on Nov28 and according to my employer I might fly to the border on Nov30 since my lmo just came today. I'm worried that it's illegal to go there since my wp and visa are already expired on the said date. Do you think the immigration officer will grant me a new work permit? Thanks!

Yup i have TRV but it will expire on Nov28 as well.
No, i'm not from Visa exempt country..

You won't be able to flagpole without a TRV. Just apply for your new work permit and you will be on implied status until you receive your new one. With your new LMO, you will have no problems. No need to fly or stop working! Read IRPA Regulations 186 (u) and 201(1) if you want to know more about implied status or do a quick google search. "Implied Status."

That's a problem. You are only entitled to apply for your work permit in a country in which you are legally admitted. If you don't have a visa for the US or from a visa-exempt country, you will have to apply in your country of residence.

It does say you can apply for a work permit for a new job while you are in Canada. However, take note as this is an application for a work permit for a new job/employer then the conditions of your original work permit (old employer) will/may have changed. IMHO you cannot work for your new employer until you receive your new work permit but you may (via implied status) still remain in the country until you get the results of your application for the new WP.

My new employer promised me that when my LMO comes out he will help me to go to tje border since he has an agent there. Do you think it will work? What will be the consequences if i still apply after my work permit expired in the border?

Not guaranteed you will get one. Read on through these threads and see the experiences:

If your mind is set to get the WP at the border, after considering the risks, then don't go there when your WP and visa has expired. Do it well before your current WP and TRV expires (should be in a few days - don't cut it too close - 28 is just around the corner); allowing your current WP and TRV to expire before getting/applying for a new one opens a new set of problems (restoration ...etc.) and not to mention you are exiting the country with no re-entry documentation back (no visa).

You may be asked to apply and pay for restoration (Cad200.00), on top of the WP app which is Cad150.00. If you go there while your WP/TRV is valid, you have a high probability of obtaining the WP and just shell out the WP fee.
