Hi Friends,

Really need your expertise here if anyone of you has similar experience. I just recently got my COPR and landed as a PR at a US-Canada border. I want to quit my current job (in Canada) in a month. I will then go back to my home country for 2 months to visit my family. Upon my return, I will start looking for another job.

I am still waiting for my PR card (which i know can take a long time). I understand that by the time I return to Canada, if I still don't have my PR card with me, i will need to apply for a travel document.

My question is will my travel document be rejected if they know that i just recently became a PR and am already jobless?

I appreciate your time and effort!

thank you!

COPR means that you're a permanent resident of Canada already. The PR card is a card more or less. What happens if you lose the PR card somewhere, would you loose your permanent residency status? Of course not, you'll apply for a replacement. The permanent residency status and the PR card are totally independent things

Hi

No, it would not be rejected. You are not required to be working or to be a PR for a certain amount of time to apply for a PRTD.

Hello, I applied under Aip, I received ecopr, my huaband will arrive in Canada soon, as far as I know, he will give his address at the airport immigration and then we will wait for our pr card right? I hate my job, is safe to quit right now? Will affect our pr? or I have to wait until my husband arrives in Canada and we receive our pr?
