Can i open envelope to see FBI Police certificate

Hi,

Sorry if this questions has been answered before. I couldn't find proper answer so posting it here.

I have received letter from FBI USA for police certificate.

Can I open the envelope to check the certificate before sending to Canada immigration office Or I need to send it as it came from USA?

Will the police certificate become invalid if I open to see it?

Could anyone please advice?

i do not know if the FBI Police certificate envelope has to be seal, but when my mother was getting her green card from the US she was told to send a Police clearence from my country and the envelope had to be sealed or it would loose validility

Yes you can open it. I did mine.

I would definitely open it to make sure it's a clearance report and not a rejection.

If they have asked for a sealed envelope sent directly from the FBI or police to them, it should be sealed.


I am not an expert, just used common sense .

I opened it and it was all OK with the certificate

Will send it along with other docs to immigration office.

@ Coolgp. Just one question. How long did it take for you to get the FBI Clearance Certificate??? My courier with finger print card and other documents have reached the FBI Clarkburg office on 5 th Feb. So whe can I expect it back??

Took mine 5 weeks from inside Canada by regular snail mail.
