Hello,
It has been so many years since I made any sort of immigration application, so I apologize if my questions sound a bit ignorant. Any information or online resources will be appreciated.
I am in Canada. and would like to assist my mother with completing the online IRCC application for a supervisa. (it seems online is the only option now). She is in my home country. Here are my questions for now:
1. I tried to sign up for the IRCC portal for the application (I do not recall ever signing up for it, so I assume this is the first time). When I click on the SIGN UP AND APPLY button, it brings me to a page with the question, WHAT WILL YOU LIKE TO DO TODAY, and the following 3 options for a response: APPLY FOR A VISITOR VISA FOR MYSELF, APPLY FOR A VISITOR VISA ON BEHALF OF SOMEONE ELSE, APPLY FOR A VISITOR VISA FOR MYSELF AND ON BEHALF OF SOMEONE ELSE. In the past, I have assisted my mother to complete her paper visa application forms using information she has provided to me and she has always signed the forms, attached the documents and mailed off the original application. We have never completed the Use of Representative Form as I complete the forms like she is the one doing so. For this online application, do I have to click the second option APPLY FOR A VISITOR VISA FOR SOMEONE ELSE, in which case I am assuming the Use of Representative Form must be completed and signed by my mother at some point. Or can I click the option APPLY FOR A VISITOR VISA FOR MYSELF, and complete the application for her and upload all documents, then she can login to the IRCC Portal from the home country, review the application, then sign and submit? I am afraid, my mother cannot use a computer, she can barely manage to turn on her phone.
2. If my mother has to complete the Use of a Representative form for me to help her complete this online application from start to finish, what are the down sides or disadvantages or things to look out for OR expect, when someone completing this visa process on your behalf, using this representative form? Any hitches or issues to expect further down during the process, please?
Thank you.
