Hi there,

I get mixed messages on the subject question. Please can I get a correct answer with legal standing?

My situation is that I am now physically living in Canada. My PR card has expired but my SIN card is valid.

Many thanks,

An expired PR card holder

Yes - you can legally work.

But try not to leave the country with an expired PR card as you will need to apply for a PRTD to come back.

Thanks both. Your replies have saved me a lot of worries.

I dare to leave the country again, after trying my luck time and time again.

Have a lovely long weekend.

If the OP met the residency requirement, then the OP would have applied for a PR Travel Document to return.

If the OP did not meet the residency requirement, the OP would have flow to the US and then entered Canada by land using a private vehicle. When someone does this, there is always a risk they may be reported at the border for failing to meet the residency obligation in which case CIC will start proceedings to revoke their PR status and they will have to argue why they should be allowed to keep it.
