Can I leave Canada for a few days while my visa extension is in process?

I was wondering if I could leave Canada for a short trip to the U.S. while my visitor visa extension is still in process?

No one can stop you from leaving the country.

Nonetheless once you set foot out of the country your extension would be void and you will be reassessed by a CBSA officer upon re-entry. Please carry with you any documentation relevant for readmission to Canada.
