Can I get a tourist visa while waiting for IEC response?

Hi Guys,

Planning to go overseas to Canada on a working visa from Australia. Waiting on my new passport to get back to me, before submitting my application.

However, knowing that the application can take a while, I want to go visit friends during this period. Something like 2-3 weeks. Will I be able allow to apply for a tourist visa? And if so, what are the chances of me getting into the country?

Any advice or help would be great!

Are you an Australian citizen? If so you do not need a visa for entering Canada.

Australian passport holders are visa exempt but you will need an ETA to fly to Canada plus a return ticket.
