Hi all,
I'm a US citizen and recently got married. My spouse lives in Bangladesh. We are planning to meet up in Canada during our summer vacation this year. I was wodnering if I can provide her a letter of support for her visitor visa application. Is it something the visa officer will consider? I visited Canada several times and being a US citizen, I don't need any visit visa to enter Canada.

Thanks!

Yes, she was in USA as a graduate student. She had a job offer in Bangaldesh. So she left USA just after finishing up her masters.
I should mention that, she tried to get US visit visa after our marraige. However the consulate rejected her application and also cancelled her student visa (CANCELLED WITHOUT PREJUDICE seal). I guess they didn't want her to visit USA beacuse I already applied for green card for her.

Officer would clearly understand that you are trying to meet in Canada.

wait for some senior member's reply like Braynna..

Yes, actually she will mention that we want to do our honeymoon (which is true) in Canada as the purpose of her visit.

Hi,

For a Canadian TRV, your wife must demonstrate that she has the finances to pay for her visit without borrowing from anyone. Having said that, you can pay for some of her visit indirectly. For example, you can include of proofs of hotel bookings (in your name) and any other such bookings.

You can also include US>>Canada>>US flight bookings (for yourself) + a letter from your employer allowing you to take time off work for your holiday.

Mention these facts in the cover letter + as you have work/other commitments to return to by a specific date, your wife must leave Canada too. Do not book plane tickets for her until she is issued a TRV.

1. What ties can your wife demonstrate to Bangladesh apart from her employment? Since how long has she been working with her current employer?

2. For how long does she want to visit Canada?

3. Does she have a Canadian host/invitation letter?

She must declare her US visa refusal/cancellation + she has a green card application in process.... in the cover letter + TRV application form

Cheers

Thanks for your prompt response. I really appreciate it.

1. Her parents live in Bangladesh. She doesn't have any relatives in Canada. She is working with her current employer for five months.
2. 2 weeks.
3. Yes she has. My uncle lives in Toronto. He wrote an invitation letter stating that he will host us in his house.

Yes she explained why US visa was cancelled in the TRV application form. There was an item in the form asking for this info.

I was planning to provide following additional documents -
1. my bank statement
2. pay stubs and employment verification letter from my employer
3. hotel booking for entire duration of her stay in Canada. We are planning to go to Banff, Alberta. So I booked a hotel there. I can cancel it if her visa is denied.
4. a letter form me explaning that we intend to meet in Canada for honeymoon and I'll bear her financial expenses.

As we will be travelling together I thought these documents might be helpful. Does it make sense to submit these documents- especially item #4?

Her application was rejected.
I see following reason in the latter:

You have not satisfied me that you would leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary
resident
  • travel history
    Purpose of visit
It doesn't make any sense! I am thinking about applying again. I would really appreciate any advice.

She wanted to visit Canada in her summer vacation. And as a purpose of visit we mentioned Honeymoon. What other documentation I can provide to satisfy this requirement?

Some additional info:
- She applied for only 2 weeks.
- I provided hotel reservation for the full 2 weeks.
- I also provided my return flight ticket from USA-Canada.
- In cover letter she mentioned that the only purpose to visit Canada is to spend time with me as we didn't get to spend much time together after our wedding.
- Employment letter.
- In cover letter she also mentioned that she has to retun back home to face immigrant visa interview with US consulate. I applied for US green card (spousal visa) for her.
- She doesn't have any family member in Canada.

I'm not sure what other documentation she can provide.
