Can I enter Canada with only a valid work permit?

Hi, I applied my work permit renewal in Canada and obtained the new work permit. The CIC does not mention anything about the visitor visa so I was assuming that I can enter Canada with visitor visa.

Recently I made a plan to have an overseas trip and I suddenly remember that my visitor visa (the one that I used initially to enter Canada long time ago) has expired. Right now all I have is a new work permit. Can I hold this new work permit and re-enter Canada when I come back?

You will still need a visa unless you are from visa exempt country.

The permit clearly states that it cannot be used for re-entry.
