Can I drop off my passport to Detroit office for same day service?

Hello,

I just got the passport request letter from detroit office. In my letter it says that "if you don't have a mailing address in Canada or USA, you must deliver passport in person,...and if everything is in order you will receive your documents the same afternoon."

Now, my question is can I still drop it off in person even if I have mailing address in Canada? Because in their (detroit office) website it says they don't offer the same day service anymore. I was just thinking that if I go there then it would take a lot less time to get back the visa rather than sending it through mail. So, if anybody has any idea about this then please let me know.

Also, just wondering if I get my passport with visa then will I be able to finish my landing formalities on the same day while coming back to Canada from detroit or do I have to go another day? Actually I really have no idea about this whole process after getting the passport request till the pr card. Like what other papers should I be getting with my visa to take to the border during landing,if that letter comes at the same time with visa,etc etc. So, Please let me know this process as well.

I truly appreciate all the members and forum admins for all their help all this way. It could have been a lot harder without your help.

Seems like not many people had information on this issue. However, I just figured it out and thought I should share it in the forum just in case it helps somebody else.

The answer is Yes it is possible to drop off the passport at Detroit Canadian Consulate in person for getting the visa on the same day but you need to bring the Passport Request letter with you. I just did it last week and landed on the same day.

Once again, thank you to the members of this forum...I got a lot of useful information from here.
