Can I do a 'border run' to the US to arrive in Canada with work visa?

I have been living in Canada since May 2013, firstly with 6months as a visitor (I'm a British citizen, so we can stay up to 6mnths visa free) and then I applied for an extension covering me until May2014. I also applied for IEC Canada and have been granted a work permit, so as I am already in Canada I won't be entering through an airport.
Q. Can I drive to the US through Vancouver border area and re-enter Canada on the same day and have my passport stamped and visa issued by land?

Thank you, any help appreciated

1. Yes, you need your LOI, Passport, $2500, proof of insurance, and $155 for the work permit.

Thanks for your reply. I was under the impression there was no more fees to be paid as I already paid $155 online when I submitted my stage 1 part of my International Experience Canada application. Is this in addition?

If you paid the $155 already, then you don't need to pay it again.
