Can I delay mailing passport?

Hey guys, I just got the email from cic requesting my passport within 30 days for confirmation of permanent resident but I have a trip to China in early Feb which I've planned long time ago. It's almost Christmas only a little more than one month away....should I Risk it and send my passport asap or I should email them and request to send my passport in after I'm back here in March???? Need your help!!! Thank you very much for your opinion!!!

Unless it's emergency trip, I would send my passport as per request and delay the trip.

IMO, Feb is still far away and on average it take about 3 weeks to get passports back. So if you send it in next week you should definitely have it back by the end of January.

It is possible to request an extension, but as advised, I would just submit now.
