Can I change my Temporary work permit to open work permit?

Hello,

I have my temporary work permit that is attached to my employer, it's valid for 3 years and I've been working there for almost two. Can I change my work permit to a open work permit? if it's possible does anybody knows how long does it takes?

On what grounds do you qualify for an open permit? Is your spouse a temporary skilled worker on a regular work permit (tied to employer)? Is your spouse a student on a student visa? Is your spouse a Canadian citizen or PR and is sponsoring you inland and you have first stage approval? Are you a live in caregiver and have applied for PR? I think that's about all scenarios I can think of where you might be able to get an open permit.

However, once you fill 2 years, you can apply for PR through CEC
