I am currently studying B.A in French literature and I will receive my Bachelor's degree in August and after that I want to continue studying in Canada. I would like to be a teacher there. I looked up for some programs and B.ed from York university seems best. How competitive are the French teaching jobs in Canada? Will I be able to secure a job after studying this program?

How long have you been studying French? Is it your first language?

French is not my First language. I am from India. I have been studying French for more than 3 years now.
In that case I think it will probably be tough to find a job here teaching French. You'll be competing with native French speakers and those who have been studying it since primary school. Having said that, you can certainly try.

I want to be sure before going to Canada because it will be a big investment and teaching is something I really like. Also, if you know about more valuable non stem college degrees which will help me easily secure a job after my studies and eventually PR, please let me know.

There's no way to be sure you will get the kind of job you want after completing studies in Canada. It doesn't matter what you study - a job is never guaranteed.

Thank you! :) I heard that students who study Engineering or anything related to STEM usually get the job after their studies compared to students who study film and other things. Is this true? Also, some Canadians told me that there is a huge demand of French immersion teachers in Ontario and since I am learning French and teaching is something I really like, I was thinking of studying B.ed from Canada. I also wanted to know if this B.ed degree will provide me a certificate to teach in Canada. I know that a teaching certificate is needed. Is it included in B.ed? I sent an email about this to York University but they have not replied to me yet so perhaps you might now?/
